At Good Company, we provide a range of support services for people with disabilities. As a provider of NDIS funded disability care in Perth, we strive to provide disability support services that help promote independence and wellbeing for our clients through a wide range of activities.

Social and Community Participation

Finding Social Activities and Making Friends

Social connections come with immense benefits that we often overlook. With our social activities and support services for people with disabilities, you can improve your emotional regulation and self-confidence and achieve a sense of belonging. Being in an environment with likeminded individuals can simplify meeting new people and finding common ground. We have a collaborative approach that supports you to identify free and low-cost social activities that you can try in your local community.

Learning how to start conversations and build rapport are some of the fundamental skills we teach to help you feel calm and confident in new environments. This provides valuable opportunities to create sustainable friendships with likeminded people. Examples of activities you can try with your mentor include: live music and comedy, dance classes, gaming and e-sports, karaoke, museums, and art galleries.

Dating and Relationships

Dating and relationships are an exciting and essential part of life. Finding common ground, initiating connections, or even knowing where to start can be intimidating. As a leading disability support agency, we’ll support you in accessing resources that teach you about topics from sexual expression to setting safe boundaries and appropriate communication.

Our leading disability support agency provide mentors to help support you with:

  • Accessing dating groups and resources
  • Safely navigating mature social environments
  • Building confidence to start and carry conversations of an intimate nature
  • Learning what is and isn’t appropriate in a mature setting

With the support of a mentor, you’ll overcome your barriers and finally have the chance to experience these important connections.

Self Care

What is it

The practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own well-being and happiness. Self-care can mean different things for different people. Any practice or action you can undertake to enhance your wellbeing and happiness is considered self-care.

Why Is it Important?

In today’s fast paced world, it’s increasingly difficult to focus on ourselves as we get caught up in our daily lives, simply forget, or can’t find the time. This is detrimental because self-care not only helps us to feel good, but it also sets us up to perform at our best and benefits us in all areas of our lives. From friends and relationships to work and financial security.

Understanding why and how to improve our physical and emotional state supports us to have greater clarity and make positive, well-balanced decisions and interactions. Self-Care can be increasingly important when your life is impacted by disability related barriers such as;

  • Sensory difficulties such as seeking and avoiding/sensitivity
  • Burnout
  • Difficulties with executive functioning

Self-care activities are restorative and help you to feel grounded, fulfilled, and improve your connection to those around you.

How do we do it?

Good Company prioritises self-care as the foundational component to your overall wellness. Having your emotional and physical needs met, and learning about what that means plays a vital part in your ability to achieve positive outcomes.

We will support you to:

  • Deepen your understanding of the disability-related barriers and how they might impact your progress.
  • Learn what self-care activities you should prioritise
  • Implement structure in your day so you have the time to focus on yourself
  • Try new self-care routines and activities with a mentor by your side

It’s important to note self-care looks different for everyone. Activities we’ve supported participants to engage with include;

Improving Sleep

Practicing Gratitude

Spending time with pets

Balancing screen time

Audiobooks/Podcasts

Card games
