NDIS Peer Mentoring
Empowering People Through Lived Experience
Good Company Disability Services Pty Ltd is an unregistered provider of NDIS supports. We are not representatives, partners, or affiliates of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) or the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
We provide our services independently and are committed to delivering high-quality support in line with our values and the needs of the people we support.
At Good Company Disability Services, we believe that true empowerment comes from connecting with those who truly understand your journey. Our Peer Mentoring program provides one-on-one support led by mentors who have lived experience with disability. These mentors act as role models, motivators, and guides, helping you to build confidence, develop practical skills, and achieve the goals that matter most to you.
Peer Mentoring is not just a service – it is a connection. Whether you are transitioning into independent living, exploring work or study, or simply wanting to feel more connected with your community, a mentor can provide the insight, support, and encouragement you need.
Ready to Connect With Someone Who Truly Understands?
What is Peer Mentoring?
Peer mentoring is a person-centred approach where someone with lived experience of disability shares their knowledge, skills, and life lessons with another person. Unlike traditional support services, peer mentoring is based on mutual understanding, respect, and equality.
Peer mentoring at Good Company Disability Services is designed to complement existing supports, not replace them. It adds value by providing connection, understanding, and lived experience alongside the formal supports participants already receive. While highly beneficial, peer mentoring is not intended to be a standalone service — it works best when combined with other supports to create a more complete, person-centred approach.
Mentors offer:
First-hand insight: They have faced and overcome similar challenges.
Non-judgemental support: They understand the ups and downs of the journey.
Practical strategies: They share real-world solutions that worked for them.
Inspiration and motivation: They demonstrate what is possible through lived experience.
Did you know? Studies show that people supported by peer mentors report higher self-esteem, greater community participation, and stronger independence outcomes.
Staff working in peer mentoring roles at Good Company Disability Services may receive additional support as part of their employment to help build their capacity and strengthen their professional skills. This may include access to training, supervision, and mentoring tailored to the unique nature of peer support work. By investing in our peer mentors, we ensure they are equipped not only to provide high-quality support to participants but also to continue developing their own confidence, resilience, and career pathways within the disability sector.
